We hope this OS has called attention to the limitations of authorship guidelines and the need to frequently revisit authorship decisions over the course of every scholarly collaboration to address changes that may impact authorship inclusion and order. While guidelines cannot capture every decision-making point, attending to issues of culture, power, and relationships can assist in fostering and supporting ethical authorship practices in health sciences scholarship.
